Bounding the Bogoliubov coefficients

While over the last century or more considerable effort has been put into the problem of finding approximate solutions for wave equations in general, and quantum mechanical problems in particular, it appears that as yet relatively little work seems to have been put into the complementary problem of establishing rigourous bounds on the exact solutions. We have in mind either bounds on parametric amplification and the related quantum phenomenon of particle production (as encoded in the Bogoliubov coefficients), or bounds on transmission and reflection coefficients. Modifying and streamlining an approach developed by one of the present authors [M. Visser, Phys. Rev. A 59 (1999) 427-438, arXiv:quant-ph/9901030], we investigate this question by developing a formal but exact solution for the appropriate second-order linear ODE in terms of a time-ordered exponential of 2×2 matrices, then relating the Bogoliubov coefficients to certain invariants of this matrix. By bounding the matrix in an appropriate manner, we can thereby bound the Bogoliubov coefficients.

An Error Analysis for the Finite Element Approximation to the Steady-State Poisson-Nernst-Planck Equations

Poisson-Nernst-Planck equations are a coupled system of nonlinear partial differential equations consisting of the Nernst-Planck equation and the electrostatic Poisson equation with delta distribution sources, which describe the electrodiffusion of ions in a solvated biomolecular system. In this paper, some error bounds for a piecewise finite element approximation to this problem are derived. Several numerical examples including biomolecular problems are shown to support our analysis.     

Generalized and Unified Families of Interpolating Subdivision Schemes

We present generalized and unified families of $(2n)$-point and $(2n-1)$-point $p$-ary interpolating subdivision schemes originated from Lagrange polynomial for any integers $n ≥ 2$ and $p ≥ 3$. Almost all existing even-point and odd-point interpolating schemes of lower and higher arity belong to this family of schemes. We also present tensor product version of generalized and unified families of schemes. Moreover, error bounds between limit curves and control polygons of schemes are also calculated. It has been observed that error bounds decrease when complexity of the scheme decrease and vice versa. Furthermore, error bounds decrease with the increase of arity of the schemes. We also observe that in general the continuity of interpolating scheme do not increase by increasing complexity and arity of the scheme.     

上三角算子矩阵的本征函数展开法在应力形式的二维弹性问题中的应用

深入研究了求解基于应力形式的二维弹性问题的本征函数展开法．根据已有的研究结果,将基于应力形式的二维弹性问题的基本偏微分方程组等价地转化为上三角微分系统,并导出了相应的上三角算子矩阵．通过深入研究,分别获得了该算子矩阵的两个对角块算子更为简洁的正交本征函数系,并证明了它们在相应空间中的完备性,进而应用本征函数展开法给出了该二维弹性问题的更为简洁实用的一般解．此外,对该二维弹性问题,还指出了什么样的边界条件可以应用此方法求解．最后应用具体的算例验证了所得结论的合理性．     

弹性理论中上三角无穷维Hamilton算子根向量组的完备性

考虑弹性力学中一类上三角无穷维 Hamilton 算子．首先,给出此类Hamilton算子特征值的几何重数和代数指标,进而得到代数重数．其次,根据Hamilton算子特征值的代数重数确定其特征(根)向量组完备的形式,得到此类Hamilton算子特征(根)向量组的完备性是由内部算子特征向量组决定．最后,将所得结果应用到弹性力学问题中．     

Completeness of system of root vectors of upper triangular infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian operators appearing in elasticity theory

This paper deals with a class of upper triangular infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian operators appearing in the elasticity theory.The geometric multiplicity and algebraic index of the eigenvalue are investigated.Furthermore,the algebraic multiplicity of the eigenvalue is obtained.Based on these properties,the concrete completeness formulation of the system of eigenvectors or root vectors of the Hamiltonian operator is proposed.It is shown that the completeness is determined by the system of eigenvectors of the operator entries.Finally,the applications of the results to some problems in the elasticity theory are presented.

Random attractors for asymptotically upper semicompact multivalue random semiflows

The present paper studied the dynamics of some multivalued random semi- flow.The corresponding concept of random attractor for this case was introduced to study asymptotic behavior.The existence of random attractor of multivalued random semiflow was proved under the assumption of pullback asymptotically upper semicompact,and this random attractor is random compact and invariant.Furthermore,if the system has ergodicity,then this random attractor is the limit set of a deterministic bounded set.
